Student Realignment 2017 for Queens Creek Elementary and Sandridge Elementary (Updated 2/21/2017)

Over the past several years, Queens Creek Elementary has seen continued growth and is currently over capacity. To ease the overcrowding at Queens Creek Elementary School, Onslow County Schools Board of Education received a realignment proposal from staff that was presented during a special meeting January 27, 2017.

The proposal would even out the student population at two schools, by moving approximately 115 students currently attending Queens Creek Elementary in the Bear Creek area to Sand Ridge Elementary School, which is currently under capacity. It was noted that the realignment could be more convenient for many of these families because they actually live closer to Sand Ridge Elementary, (see map attached to the opposite side of this notification.)

However, before making a final decision in March, Onslow County Schools will receive input from parents and families affected. A town hall meeting was held at 6 p.m. February 13, 2017, at Sand Ridge Elementary School and from that meeting several questions were asked and a list of these questions are provided in the link to Realignment 2017

We also encourage any parents who may be impacted by this proposal to review the Realignment Questions for answers to specific questions that were brought out during the February 13, 2017 community meeting.  If you have any additional questions or would like to provide additional feedback you can send an e-mail to the following address:

Any feedback received will be reviewed and summarized for the Board of Educations consideration.  The Board of Education will be considering the re-alignment at the March 7, 2017 Board Meeting.
