Gladys Stafford Award for Outstanding Secretarial Service

Director of Human Resources, Dr. C.J. Korenek presented this year’s recipient of the Gladys Stafford Award for Outstanding Secretarial Service to Sherry Tipton of Dixon Middle School.

This award is presented to an individual who consistently interacts with others in a positive manner, demonstrates initiative and creativity in solving problems, accepts new challenges and demonstrates a desire to improve their work as a lifelong learner.

Ms. Dorothy Stafford Mason traveled from her home in Greensboro to present this award personally as she has done for many years.

Ms. Mason and the Gladys Stafford family established this award program in honor of their mother, with the family funding a $400 cash award annually.

Her principal, Leah Bizzell said of Ms. Tipton, “Sherry is one of the most unselfish people I have had the pleasure to work with.  She gives of her time, energy and money for the students of Dixon Middle School and our community.  She goes above and beyond.  She is a pleasure to work with.”
