Ms. Kayla Russell

Hi, I am Kayla Russell.

I was born and raised in Lincoln, Maine.  When I graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 2005, I moved to Farmington, Maine to go to college at the University of Maine at Farmington.  Go Beavers!  Check out my college: University of Maine at Farmington.  In college, I studied Elementary Education. I have a concentration or minor in mathematics.  In 2009, I received my B.S. in Elementary Education with high honors.  While in college, I student taught in 4th and 8th grade math classes!

My career in education started in 2009 when I got my first teaching job in Fayetteville, NC.  I was a fifth grade teacher.  I taught at Cumberland Mills Elementary School for 2 years before moving to New Orleans, LA.  In New Orleans, I taught fifth grade for one year and two years of 4th grade at Milestone Sabis International Charter School.  In 2014, I moved back to North Carolina and started teaching at Northwoods Elementary School.  I have taught 4 years of 4th grade, 2 years of 2nd grade and now my third year in 5th grade this year.  I am very excited to see what the year brings.

My family is the most important aspect of life.  I have two boys, 11 and 2; and one girl, 10 months.   As a family, we enjoy doing many things outdoors, and the summer is our favorite family time.  We enjoy going to the park, splash pad, water parks, and many more adventures. Many times we take long weekend mini getaways, or long vacations to Maine. You will find us most weekends packed full of things the kids want to do.
