Mrs. B. Johnson

This will be my twenty-fourth year at Southwest Elementary.  I have been teaching for 37 years.  This year I am teaching fourth grade again.  I will be teaching all subjects.  Previously, I have taught a third/fourth grade combination class, third grade, first grade and Kindergarten.  A few years ago I received my National Board Certification and have since renewed.  I also keep busy with many committees at the school. 

My family is very special to me.  My husband is Tim and is a familiar face in the Southwest area.  You may have seen him at school, at Onslow Pines Park, the soccer field, cub scouts, Scouts and a few other places.  My son, Ryan graduated from Greensboro College with his Bachelors Degree and Wingate University with his Masters Degree.  He is living and working in Charlotte, NC as an athletic trainer.  Ryan married his wonderful wife Rianne and we celebrated in Colorado this summer.  Ashley, my daughter, graduated from Southwest High and  William Peace University in Raleigh. She is working for RBC Wealth Management in Raleigh and recently earned her Masters Degree from UNCP.  She and her boyfriend, Devin, bought a home in Clayton.  

There are also two furry creatures residing in our house.  One of our wonderful dogs is Oreo.  She is a  German short haired pointer and a hound dog mix.  She is a love sponge.  Her name fits her looks since she is black and white spotted.  Our newest member is a Chocolate Lab named Tucker.  He just turned two and is full of puppy energy.  They both have their own personality and provide much entertainment and love.  Our family wouldn't be complete without our furbabies!

I keep very busy with school and all of the aspects of teaching.  I also stay very busy with the events in my children's lives. When I do have free time which isn't very often, I like to read, work in the yard, go to the beach and travel.

First Grade--3 years

1999 - 2009  Third Grade--9 years

2009 - 2010  Third and Fourth Grade Combination--1 year

2010 - 2022  Fourth Grade--13 years
