In order to ensure the safety of our OCS school community, district staff have been working in close cooperation with Onslow County Emergency Management, officials at Camp Lejeune and other community partners to monitor the progress of Hurricane Florence.

Considering these conversations, current reports regarding the possibility of severe weather, and to allow adequate preparation for the anticipated arrival of the storm, OCS announces the following decisions regarding school closings for the remainder of this week:

School will be closed for all students from Tuesday, September 11th through Friday, September 14th.  All after school activities will be cancelled for the same period. OCS Before and After School care will also be closed during this time.

    • Onslow County Schools will continue to monitor weather conditions.  Should any further announcements be necessary, notifications will be sent via our alert system.  We will also notify the media, post the information on our district web page,, and post any updates on our social media sites.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students and our community safe.
