Weekly Report - Week of December 9-13, 2019

    Dear Parents,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.   On Friday, December 20th our class will have our Christmas lunch before leaving for Christmas break.   I will order pizza and purchase drinks and other items for lunch.  I am asking that each parent donate $5 to help cover the cost of the pizzas and other party items.  Please send in money by Friday, December 13th so I can get the order placed and have enough time to purchase the other items.  Thank you so much to those parents that have already contributed😊

Below you will find information about our classroom/school happenings as well as what students will be working on this week.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Have a wonderful week!

Here is what we are working on this week:

Math: We will continue with division this week.   Please continue to review multiplication facts with your child.  Students will have another fact quiz on Friday. All math homework should have work shown.  Homework that is missing work will result in a loss of 10 points.

Reading: We will wrap up determining the main idea of a text and finding supporting details.  Students should be completing reading homework nightly and answering the assigned chapter book questions.  Questions should be restated in complete sentences in the student’s reading journal.   Questions that are not restated in complete sentences will result in a loss of 10 points.

Science:  Students will have a joints and muscles quiz on Friday, December 13th. We are coming to close to finishing up our skeletal unit.  This week, students will be dissecting owl pellets and identifying the bones that are in their pellet.  So exciting!!!

Social Studies:  We are continuing with our unit on government and learning about the roles of the executive, judicial, and legislative branch.

Word Study:  Spelling words this week are “oy and oi” sounds.  Topics this week are helping/linking verbs and possessive nouns.  Please make sure students are studying their words nightly for their spelling test on Friday.
