    Thomas Wolfe Scholarship

    Amount: Full ride

    We are pleased to announce that The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship will open for applications on September 1, 2023. This scholarship provides full undergraduate funding for four years, including tuition, room and board, textbooks, and a new laptop, along with a $5,000 annual summer stipend to support the recipient’s creative work. The application process consists of two steps: Step 1) Apply to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by October 15, 2023. Step 2) Apply to the Thomas Wolfe Scholarship by November 15, 2023. Students must apply to both the University and the Scholarship to be considered. Preliminary screening will be completed in January 2024, with final screening concluding in early March 2024. Three to five outstanding candidates will be interviewed virtually and a final decision will be made in early April 2024

    1. Maintain a 3.5 GPA on the weighted scale (must 3.5 or higher by end of 1st semester senior year)

    1. Attain a College Preparatory Diploma and meet requirements for NC Scholars Diploma.

    Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship

    THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA WILL AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS OF FIRST PLACE - $3,000, SECOND PLACE - $1,000, THIRD PLACE - $800 AND THREE FOURTH PLACES - $400 TO NORTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS, TO BE USED AT ANY NORTH CAROLINA COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY.  THE RECIPIENTS WILL BE SELECTED ON THE BASIS OF THE MERIT OF AN ESSAY ON THE ASSIGNED TOPIC, PLUS CHARACTER AND SCHOLASTIC RECORD AND NEED.

    North Carolina Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship

    Amount: $2,000

    This scholarship is open to a male or female, on track to graduate this spring, planning to pursue an education degree at a school of higher learning.  Specific eligibility requirements are:  SAT score of 990 to 1130 or ACT composite score of 20 to 24; unweighted GPA of 2.5 to 3.5; good character, integrity, leadership potential and service to school, community and church.  Students should apply for this scholarship through the North Carolina Community Foundation at www.nccommunityfoundation.org 

    Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    • Child or step-child of one of the following:
      • Active duty, Reserve, or veteran* U.S. Marine
      • A Marine killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps
      • Active duty, reserve, or veteran U.S. Navy Corpsman, Navy Chaplain or Religious Program Specialist who is or was attached to a U.S. Marine Corps unit or who was killed while serving with a U.S. Marine Corps unit*

    Swansboro Rotary Foundation

    Amount: $4,000

    Scholarships: Four-Year College or University Scholarships will be awarded up to $4,000 each, payable in equal amounts of $1,000 annually. (The first two years may be completed at a community college. The final two years must be completed at a four-year college or university.) An equal number of scholarships payable to accredited community colleges of four-year colleges and universities will be awarded to graduating seniors from Croatan and Swansboro High Schools. (Classes must be taken on campus – online programs are ineligible.) Eligibility: Graduating seniors from either Croatan or Swansboro High School who enroll full-time in a community college, four-year college or university. (Children and grandchildren of Swansboro Rotary members are ineligible.) Criteria: 40% Financial Need 30% Academic Achievement (Grade Point Average and Class Rank) 30% Other Considerations (Extracurricular activities, unusual circumstances, goals and aspirations).

    2024 MPMA Scholarship

    Amount: 

    Deadline: 3/15/2024

    1. To qualify for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) or Mrs. Almita S. R. Woods (AW) scholarships, each applicant must be or have been an Onslow County high school graduate. Current high school seniors are eligible to apply for both scholarships in accordance with the guidelines in the link below.

    The Society of American Military Engineers

    Amount: $2,000

    Deadline: 3/18/2024

    The applicant must submit a completed application by March 18, 2024. To be eligible for a scholarship the applicant must meet the following requirements: (1) Be a high school senior planning to enroll in an engineering, architectural, or a similar technical field curriculum at an accredited college or university. College enrollment must be planned for the 2024/2025 school year. (2) Have a minimum of a B average (3.0 on 4.0 scale). (3) Meet at least one of the following: a. Be a dependent of a Coastal Carolina Post SAME member or sustaining member. b. Be sponsored by a Coastal Carolina Post SAME member or sustaining member. Note: If you do not have a SAME Member to sponsor your application, one will be appointed for you. (4) Provide a completed application form to include: a copy of high school transcript; a copy of SAT/ACT results; and an approximate 500-word essay. (5) Arrange for scholarship application reference forms to be completed by high school advisors, academic instructors, or immediate work supervisors (maximum of 3) for delivery to and received by Mr. Gil Burnet no later than March 18, 2024.

    Eligibility: Any graduating senior from these local high schools with an interest in a marine or environmentally related career, except children of members of the Tournament Organizing Committee.

    Bob R. McGuire Memorial Scholarship

    Amount: $1,500

    At least one Parent must be a member of the North Carolina Child Support Council or a Client of the Child Support Program (either through IVD services or AOC Clerk of Court services).

    1. The applicant must be a resident of North Carolina and a graduating high school Senior.
    2. Applicant must have been accepted to a school of higher learning.  Specifically, a College, University, Technical or Trade Institute. Applicants need to attach a copy of an acceptance letter. Payment of scholarship will only be made to a school of higher learning.
    3. Applicant must have maintained a 2.5 unweighted GPA or above during his/her high school career.

    Jeffrey F. Meier Memorial Scholarship Information

    Island Automation, P.C. is pleased to offer the Jeffrey F. Meier Memorial Scholarship which will award two graduating seniors from Swansboro High School a single non-recurring payment of $2,500.00 each towards a degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) program, with a preference being an engineering field.

    Outreach of Hope will award TEN PRETTY Girls Rock scholarships in the amount of $500 to young ladies who are either graduating High School or young ladies who have completed their freshman year in college.     Scholarship is available to former NBMS students who are graduating from an Onslow
    County High School in June 2024. Students who attended NBMS and will graduate

    Next BC Scholarship

    Amount: Varies $3,000-$5,000

    To receive the Next NC Scholarship, you must be:

    • A North Carolina resident who is eligible for in-state tuition
    • A high school graduate (high school equivalency completers are eligible)
    • From a household with an annual Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $80,000 or less
    • Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate curriculum program for the 2024-2025 academic year
    • Taking at least 6 credit hours per semester (part-time students will receive a partial award)
    • Meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards of the school you plan to attend
    • A student who has completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA, with a resulting Student Aid Index (SAI) at or below 7,500 (once complete, the financial aid office at the college/university you plan to attend will determine and confirm eligibility.)

    The nation's largest con-profit organization devoted to providing college scholarships for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

    Aspiring Animation Professional Scholarship Program

    NC Farm Bureau
    Each year, North Carolina Farm Bureau makes an investment in agriculture's future leadership through the R. Flake Shaw Scholarship Program. The program now offers:

    •a total of 24 scholarships valued at $3,000 per year for four years of study 
    at college or university in an agriculturally related curriculum. Six new 
    scholarships are awarded each spring.
    •a total of four scholarships valued at $1,000 per year for 2 years of study 
    at a community college to receive an associate degree in an agriculturally 
    related field or to prepare for transfer to college or university. Two new 
    scholarships are awarded each spring.

    The New River Staff NCO Wives' Club is a private organization developed as a welfare and social forum for the spouses of military officers. The intent of these scholarships has always been, and will continue to be, to support our local military families and their pursuit of futhering their educational needs.

    Young entrepreneurs who are graduating high school seniors are eligible to receive a NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award from NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation. Qualified candidates must be operating a small business. Please visit the website for more information and apply online!

    Onslow County Association of Educators
    One scholarship will be awarded to a student in Onslow County who is interested in Education as a career.
    Children of OCAE members will be given preference, however, other applicants who show financial need and have
    been accepted to college will be considered.

    Onslow County Masonic Scholarship
    Graduating seniors who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

    • Rank in the top third of class
    • Entering an accredited academic or vocational institution after graduation
    • Have definite need for financial assistance

    Students must complete the application, submit 3 letters of recommendation, and provide letter of acceptance from their college.

    Southeast NC Quail Forever Scholarship
    Scholarship is available for students who will be pursuing their education in the area of Wildlife or Environmental
    Science, Agriculture, Forestry, Parks and Recreation, or Wildlife Enforcement.

    State Employees Association of North Carolina Scholarship

    State Employees Credit Union Scholarships 
    $10,000 Four-Year College Scholarship-All Seniors must meet the following requirements:1.Must be attending a NC traditional public high school.
    2.Must be a US citizen and a resident of NC.
    3.Must be accepted by one of the 16 UNC system universities.
    4.Must have a GPA of 2.5.
    5.Must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement.

    $5,000 community College Scholarship- Must meet the following requirements:
    1. Must be a US citizen and a resident of NC.

    2. Must be attending one of the 58 NC Community Colleges.

    3. Must be an applicant or full-time student who is a HS graduate or completed the GED program, enrolled 
    in an associate degree, diploma, or certificate program.

    4. Must have a GPA of 2.5.

    5. Must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement.

    Scholarships for Students interested in Teaching

    Maynard Scholarship Program
    The Maynard Scholarship is a four year $20,000 scholarship
    awarded to outstanding high school seniors each year. This scholarship is
    modeled after the NC Teaching Fellow Scholarship and as so, recipients will be
    expected to teach in public, charter, or government school for four years in
    one of the stated counties following graduation. Individuals have up to seven
    years to complete this requirement.

    Meredith College Teaching Fellows

    TEACH Grant Program
    The TEACH Grant Program provides
    grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete
    course work needed to begin a career in teaching.
    As a condition for receiving a TEACH Grant,
    you must sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve in which you agree to (among other requirements) teach

    • in a high-need field
    • at an elementary school, secondary school, or educational service agency that serves students from low-income families
    • for at least four complete academic years within eight years after completing (or ceasing enrollment in)
      the course of study for which you received the grant in a high-need field
    • at an elementary school, secondary school, or educational
      service agency that serves students from low-income families
    • for at least four complete academic years within eight years after
      completing (or ceasing enrollment in) the course of study for which you received
      the grant.
