• I am a Carolina native who grew up in Dillon, SC born in Lumberton, NC!

I graduated from Hanahan High School in 1984 and LSU in 1993 with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Art History.  I also attended Trident Technical College and the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC for a year before transferring to LSU. My Teacher Certification was earned from East Carolina University.  I am currently pursuing my graduate degree from ECU in their MaEd for Secondary Math Teachers with expected graduation date May 2023.

As an independent student, finishing college was a huge accomplishment for me!

After college, I moved to Tacoma, Washington where I entered the construction field as a book keeper/receptionist.  My math experience and art history training (which mainly focused on architectural history and details) made me an excellent candidate for this field.   My interest in construction enabled me to quickly work my way up in the company where I soon became a Construction Project Manager.  I have managed many different types of commercial construction projects and learned a lot from it!

After taking a brief break from construction management to devote to my family, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a professional math teacher as inspired by my 10th grade Algebra II and Geometry teacher, Myra Coffey.  I have tutored math students in high school, college and professionals for over 20 years.  So, a few years ago I entered the teaching profession by substitute teaching in high schools and middle schools primarily in math classes.  I thought this would be a good way to get into the classroom and find out what teaching was all about.

I found that I really enjoy being a classroom teacher!

This is what brought me to Onlsow County Schools where I enjoy every minute of teaching here since August 2010!

Remember - ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!!! They will come true!!
