    Make IT Happen Scholarship (In memory of Coach Rick Fritter)

    Deadline: June 1st, 2024

    Award Amount: $500

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • WOHS Student Athlete attending a 2 year or 4 year college or trade school

    Please see a coach or Mr. Baxter in the front office for the application.


    The Nobles of Ali Temple #257 Oasis of Jacksonville-Desert of North Carolina Scholarship

    Deadline: May 24th, 2024

    Eligibility Requirements:

    1. Have a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.(unweighted)
    2. Must be a graduating high school senior from an Onslow County high school or a college
freshman that graduated from an Onslow County high school at the time the scholarship is
awarded and planning to attend a 2-year community college or 4-year college or university.
    3. Application packet must be postmarked before Friday, May 24, 2024.
    4. Submit a Completed and Signed Application Packet. Please include the following items with your application packet: Scholarship Application Packet Checklist
      1. Official signed copy of your High School Transcript. For graduating high school
seniors this serves as proof of upcoming graduation from an Onslow County high school and
current GPA. For college freshman an official signed copy of your high school transcript or a
copy of your high school diploma (proof of graduating from an Onslow County high school)
and an official printed transcript from your current college reflecting your current GPA.
      2. color 5×7 sized photo of the applicant.
      3. One Letter of Recommendation from each of the following:
        1. Community Leader and School Official.
        2. A community leader can be a representative from your church, community activist, organization member, or politician.
        3. A school official can be a professor,
instructor/teacher or a guidance counselor.
      4. Personal Statement Question.
      5. Copy of College Acceptance Letter (s) or Class Registration. For graduating high
school seniors, you are required to submit a copy of your college acceptance letter (s) or a class
registration. For college freshman, you are required to submit a copy of your college
registration or a letter from your college (Registrar’s Office, Guidance Counselor, Financial Aid
Office) stating you will be attending for the upcoming semester.


    Cirkled In "No Sweat" Scholarship

    Deadline: June 30th, 2024

    Award Amount: $2,500

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • must be at least 13 years old
    • must be a legal resident of the US 
    • Must be currently enrolled in 8th-12th grade

    The Brendan Looney Foundation Military Families Scholarship

    Deadline: May 31, 2024

    Award Amount: not specified

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • This scholarship is for Gold Star Children & Siblings, as well as children of wounded warriors or active duty members of the armed forces. 
    • Completed BLF Application (2 pages)
    • Two letters of character reference (non-relative). Form attached.
    • Essays (as applicable)
    • Copy of Military ID, DD form 1300 or death certificate, or copy of DD214 as applicable 


    Next NC Scholaship

    Applying is simple. Just submit the FAFSA form. If you’re eligible, you’ll receive the Next NC Scholarship. There are no additional forms to fill out.

    Deadline: not specified

    Award Amount: at least $3,000 for students attending community college and a minimum of $5,000 for students attending a public university in NC.

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • A North Carolina resident who is eligible for in-state tuition
    • A high school graduate (high school equivalency completers are eligible)
    • From a household with an annual Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $80,000 or less
    • Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate curriculum program for the 2024-2025 academic year
    • Taking at least 6 credit hours per semester (part-time students will receive a partial award)
    • Meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards of the school you plan to attend
    • A student who has completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA, with a resulting Student Aid Index (SAI) at or below 7,500 (once complete, the financial aid office at the college/university you plan to attend will determine and confirm eligibility.)


    Sponsors for Academic Talent, Inc. Scholarship

    Amount: $750 or $1,500

    1. Maintain a 3.5 GPA on the weighted scale (must 3.5 or higher by end of 1st semester senior year)
    2. Score 1100 (composite of critical reading and mathematics scores only) on the SAT Test or ACT Composite score of 23 or higher. 
    Attain a College Preparatory Diploma and meet requirements for NC Scholars Diploma.
    Complete community service hour requirement for either the $750 or $1,500 scholarship.  Students cannot receive both awards. 

    To obtain a $750.00 Scholarship, you must: 

    1. Perform a minimum of 75 hours of community service
    2. Complete 20 hours in the senior year (can start on 1st day of summer break prior to senior year)
    Perform a maximum of 35 church and school hours
    Perform a minimum of 40 hours at approved agencies 

    To obtain a $1,500.00 Scholarship, you must:

    1. Complete 20 hours in the senior year (can start on 1st day of summer break prior to senior year)
    2. Perform a minimum of 100 hours at approved agencies
