Stallion Concert Band

UNCP Honors Band
  • The Stallion Concert Band is for students who have played through middle school, previous years of experience, and beginning instrumentalists (primarily of freshman in the spring. Upperclassmen may take this class but must learn a secondary instrument. The purpose of this ensemble is to introduce students to the techniques of SWO Bands, and to enable students who have had minimal experience on an instrument, the opportunity to improve their musicianship skills and to be a part of a performing ensemble. Throughout the course of the semester, students will focus on the development of skills and standards associated with instrumental music by repeating and expanding upon the skills learned at the middle school level. This ensemble will study and perform a diverse amount of mid-level (Grade 3-4) high school concert literature. Students are required to pay the $10.00 Onslow County Band Fee. Students will also need to purchase the warm-up book “Habits of a Successful Musician” (approximately $12.00 and can be ordered through Fuller’s Music or online).
