Candidates are notified based on certain GPA requirements after sophomore year. A cumulative weighted GPA of 3.75 over freshman and sophomore years must be maintained to qualify. Your GPA does not guarantee you will become a member of NHS here at SBHS. NHS members adhere to upholding the four pillars upon which NHS is based: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Selection of members will be determined by the Faculty Council and will be based on the candidate’s ability to show that they possess all the qualities related to the four pillars.

If you choose to apply you have three options to access the informational packet:

    1. Print off the information packet found under the National Honor Society webpage on Swansboro High School’s website located under the “Identified Candidates” tab.

    2. Pick up an information packet from Ms. Griffin, room 601 respectively, no later than Tuesday, August 16th at 2:30 PM.

The information packet will give further instructions and directions that should be reviewed carefully and in their entirety.

Candidates must complete the NHS Candidate packet and HAND IN to the office by Wednesday, August 17th at 2:30 PM.

If you have questions please contact Ms. Griffin via email.

NOTE: It would be a mistake to wait to the last minute to complete the NHS Candidate packet. This packet requires extensive time to gather documents and references and present information in a cover letter/resume format. Specific instructions are found in the NHS Candidate packet found below.
