Explanation of Tools

    • Students will generate notes that include the following four elements: (1) factual information, (2) questions, (3) feelings and reactions and (4) connections that come to mind.
    • Students share with class, group or partners and revise their notes as needed. 
    • Makes the note-taking process an active, engaging and personally meaningful one.
    • Use sentence stems to help students. For example, in the Feelings & Reactions quadrant students could use, "I really enjoyed ___," "I was impressed by ___," "I was inspired by ___," and "I was confused about ___."
