This year grading is on a weighted scale
Tests are worth 2
Quizzes & Projects 1.5
Classwork 1
A: 100-90
B: 89-80
C: 79-70
D: 69-60
F: 59-0
I send home grade checks every other week so that you are able to keep up with your child's grades. If you would like to know their grades daily or weekly please check your student's powerschool. if you need help on how to do so please reach out to me.
Discipline:
At Northwoods in 5th grade we use a punch card system. At the beginning of each week students are given a punch card. When they do something that is not following our classroom or school rules they receive a punch on their punch card.
Daily punch meanings:
1 punch: Warning
2: Think Sheet
3: Parent Contact
4: Office Referral.
If students receive 2 or more punches in a DAY they do not get to participate in the end of the 9 weeks celebration.
Students who do not receive a punch at all each day will receive a POSITIVE PUNCH on the back of their punch cards. At the end of the 9 weeks the top 3 students will get a prize we they vote on in class at the beginning of that 9 weeks. Students can receive POSITIVE punches for doing an outstanding job, helping others, being on task, etc.
At the end of the week students are to bring home their weekly punch card and have their parent sign it and return on Monday.
