Referring a Child for Gifted Screening
Who can refer a child for gifted screening?
Anyone can refer a child for screening. A fellow student, a pastor, a parent, a friend, a teacher, anyone who has knowledge of the child and his/her academic prowess.
Is screening the same thing as testing?
No. Screening is the beginning of the process where any available data or information can be shared. Screening may result in a more formal evaluation such as testing, but it may also show that there is enough data to support a placement without testing. It may also be determined that testing is not the best option or may be something to consider at a later time.
THE REFERRAL FORM IS BEING UPDATED AND WILL BE ATTACHED HERE SOON. In the meantime, please contact your schools AIG (gifted services) specialist, school counselor, or Michael Elder (email@example.com) at the Onslow County Schools Central Serices.
Any further questions should be directed to your school's AIG Gifted Services specialist, school counselor, or Michael Elder at the Onslow County Schools Central Offices.
