OCS Plan B Reopening Information

  • On Tuesday, July 14, Governor Roy Cooper announced that schools across North Carolina would reopen under Plan B on August 17. On Thursday, July 16, the Onslow County Board of Education unanimously approved Plan B, Option 1 as the way we will begin the upcoming school year.

The approved local plan for implementing Plan B will have students alternate in-person days within each week of school. Under this option, all students, PK-12, will be assigned a cohort (A or B) which will attend school in-person two days each week and learn remotely three days each week, on an alternating basis. On Monday and Tuesday, Cohort A will meet in-person, while Cohort B participates in remote learning. On Thursday and Friday, Cohort B will meet in-person, while Cohort A does remote learning. All students will participate in remote instruction on Wednesdays to allow time for cleaning, tutoring, and planning.

  • For families who may be uncomfortable sending their children back to school for in-person instruction, OCS is now offering a fully virtual option through Onslow Virtual School. Registration for OVS is open through Wednesday, July 22. You can learn more about OVS here: Onslow Virtual School
