At Dixon Elementary, our 2nd grade students learn about the culture, geography, and history of Asia. Additionally, each classroom dives deeper into an Asian country. Our classroom country is Japan. This is especially exciting to me because my family spent 4 1/2 years living in Okinawa, Japan! I have lots to share! Our literacy curiculum will also allow us to learn about early Asian civilization, ancient Greek civilization, Westward Expansion and the War of 1812, along with other interesting and engaging topics!
A global education emphasizes the interconnectedness and diversity of people and history around the world. Global education develops students' skills to engage with their global peers and highlights actions students can take as citizens of the world. Please let me know if you have any special connections to Asia or Japan!
