Hi everyone :)
My name is Keara Horton and I am a 5th grade teacher this year! This is my 8th year teaching and I'm very much looking forward to another year here in Onslow County. I'm a Florida native and taught there for 5 years prior to relocating to North Carolina. I graduated from Florida State in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Family & Child Sciences and Psychology. I then earned my teaching certificate in Elementary Education and went on to teach Science (as a special) for pre-k through 5th grade, 5th grade, as well as 4th grade. Growing up and then teaching in South Florida granted me endless diverse experiences and opportunities for growth and learning that I believe will benefit your child this school year. Teaching is my passion and there is nothing like being in a classroom watching the engagement and learning of a child!
When I am not at school I have two German Shepherds, Brock and Sally, who occupy as much of my time as I'll allow them to :) I enjoy weight lifting, reading, trips to the beach, and creating for my small business. I'm looking forward to this year, being your child's teacher, and all the fun times to come!
