Planning for Redistricting
-
The new Clear View Elementary School Project under construction of off Highway 24/258 in the west central portion of the county, will open for students in August 2022. To better serve our elementary school children, in September 2019, the OCS Board of Education asked district staff to begin working on a redistricting plan to address the opening of two new schools - Coastal Elementary (scheduled to open fall 2021) and Clear View Elementary (scheduled to open in fall 2022).
The opening of Clear View Elementary required the creation of a new district which will have impacts on multiple elementary schools. On March 2, 2021, OCS district staff provided the Board of Education an overview of the re-alignment proposals being considered.
On April 6, 2021, the Board of Education unanimously approved the redistricting maps below. The new district lines are designed to provide a continuity of instructional services and balance the student population between the new and existing elementary schools.
