Weekly Report
March 18-22, 2024
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Please make sure you are checking your child’s binder each night. Important school information as well as graded papers go home daily.
Please take a few minutes to review what is happening in the forest. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a fantastic week 😊
Below is what we are learning this week:
Math: This week, students will solve problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals as well as problems dealing with money. There will be a lesson quiz on Thursday. Please ensure that your child is completing math homework every night. Homework counts as a grade and should have work shown for each problem to avoid a deduction of 10 points.
ELA (Reading/Writing/Word Study: We will continue with text structure (compare/contrast, sequencing, and cause/effect). Students will describe the overall structure of events, ideas, concepts, and information in a given text. We will continue with our new chapter book Poppy. Please ensure your child is completing their questions each night. Homework requires that all responses be answered in complete sentences to avoid a loss of 10 points.
Social Studies: In conjunction with Black History Month (February) and Famous Women (March), each student has been assigned a famous person to research and write a biographical essay. All research and writing will be done in class. Students are required to create a flat paper doll resembling their famous person. This project will count as a Social Studies test grade and will need to be completed at home. Dolls are due Friday, March 22nd.
Important Upcoming Class/School Happenings:
- Monday, March 25th – Monday, April 1st – Spring Break. Students return on Tuesday, April 2nd. Have an awesome break 😊
