Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Keli Decker
I grew up in Brevard County Florida where I graduated high school and joined the Marine Corps. I served in Iwakuni, Japan and Camp Pendleton, CA before returning home to attend college. I have an Associate of Arts from Eastern Florida State College (formerly Brevard Community College) in Cocoa, Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education (K-12) from Western Governor’s University. I also carry certifications in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) and Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) from TEACH International. I am currently enrolled at East Carolina University working towards a master’s degree in mathematics.
My teaching experience ranges from teaching basic computer operations in an after-school program to extensive computer maintenance and network administration in the Marine Corps. I have taught students of all ages ranging from kindergarten through 60 years old. I taught English both in Hiroshima, Japan and in a virtual learning platform for students in China. I began my Onslow County teaching career at JCMS in March 2021 teaching 8th grade ELA resource and inclusion then moved to 6th grade math resource, 7th grade math inclusion and 8th grade ELA inclusion for the 2021-22 school year.
My husband and I live on two acres in Richlands with our 8-year-old son, William, dog Gomer, two cats, Bourbon & Barney, a pot-bellied pig named Matilda, and several chickens. I also have a 20-year-old son, Jacob, who lives in Alabama.
I love the beach, kayaking, and crafts such as crochet, knitting, and pottery. I’m very happy to join the SWE team and look forward to working with all of the families here as well.
