Checking Out Materials

  • Kindergarten -1st grade: one book at a time

2nd grade -5th grade: two books at a time

  • Loan period: 2 weeks. However, if a student has not finished with their materials in the 2-week time frame the books can be renewed

Overdue books: Our media center does not charge a fine for overdue books. Students with overdue materials will receive an overdue notice and may not be able to check out additional materials.

Damaged or lost books: If a book is damaged or lost the student will be charged the price of item (according to Destiny)

*Please email me if books are damaged or lost so we can resolve the issue and have your student checking out materials again ASAP :)

Once a book is paid for, the school does not refund money if the book is found- the student can instead keep the book

Goals and Reading Level

  • Our goal is the pass on the joy of reading onto each one of our students. We strive to have quality materials for students at their Lexile or reading level. By having reading levels we can help students make the best book selection.

What Students will be learning: students in ENCORE class at the media center will be taught how to utilize the library. This includes things like alphabetical order and where different books are housed in our library.

We will also cover the different types or genres of books, digital citizenship, online safety, and beginning researching skills.
