Hello Parkwood Families!
Each 9 weeks I will add more parent and family files to keep you updated on testing strategies, expectations, tips on making learning enjoyable, and/ or different strategies you can use at home to assist your child in the areas of ELA (English Language Arts). This 9 weeks I have included the Welcome Letter to those who have been selected to receive services, as well as a fall parent survey. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

3-5 EOG Vocabulary
This a word list students should be familiar with to successfully understand end of grade testing questions. I'd like to point out that even younger students have been exposed to and should know some of these--for example, the vocabulary under text features. These can be challenging terms to grasp but necessary for reading comprehension.

K-2 High Frequency Words
This is a list of 255 words that all students K-2, regularly drill and practice at school. They will be tested on them multiple times a year to see if they have met proficiency. This list is great to keep on the refrigerator to practice at home. Here are the expectations for students at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.

National Board Maintenance
This year marks the anniversary of when I need to maintain my certificate as a National Board Certified Teacher, which I received in 2004, and renewed in 2014. This letter explains that this process involves video taping lessons and taking photos of the students I serve. This will also be attached to the welcome letter for those students along with the parent survey. If you receive one, please return it as soon as possible. Thank you!
