I grew up in Wilson, NC, where my teaching career later began.   I attended East Carolina University in Greenville, NC for Undergraduate and Graduate School. My National Board Certification was earned in 1997 then renewed in 2007 and 2017. 

I taught for 5 years in Wilson County (1989-1994), 7 years in Pitt County (1994-2001) and the remainder of my years have been at Queens Creek Elementary (2002-Present).  I am married and have two lovely daughters.  I am a Reading Specialist and love helping Kindergarten and first grade students learn to read!

I understand that children learn in a variety of ways and incorporate all learning styles in my teaching to help students be successful.  I hope to help students become life long learners that enjoy reading!
