• Mrs. Williams is from Red Hook, New York, but moved to North Carolina in 2005. She is happily married, has three children (Emma, Ryan & Noah), and a few pets. She loves North Carolina and will never move back to NY (too much snow!) Mrs. Williams has a huge passion for music, and she loves teaching her students.

  • Mrs. Williams holds a Masters in Music Education. She is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam, The Crane School of Music for undergraduate studies in Music Education, as well as Boston University for her Masters. While voice is her primary instrument, she is also a flute player and LOVES playing her ukulele!

She is Level II Orff certified, and currently working towards her National Boards in teaching.

Mrs. Williams is also very active at the state level. She has held an executive board position on the elementary section of NCMEA since Fall 2015. In January 2021, Mrs. Williams was elected as the Secretary for the Elementary Music Educators section of the North Carolina Music Educators Association. Mrs. Williams was also asked to co-chair the Music In Our Schools Month committee for our "big board" of NCMEA, spring of 2022.

  • This is Mrs. Williams' 13th year at Swansboro Elementary!

Mrs. Williams began her teaching career teaching 6-8 chorus, drama, piano and world music appreciation at New Bridge Middle school from 2006 to 2011.

In August 2011, Mrs. Williams started teaching at Swansboro Elementary. She teaches the fundamentals of musical education to her K-2 students, and then expands to instrumental studies for her 3-5 students. Students become fluent in sight-reading music, as well as composition. Students also develop a global understanding of the music in the world. Each grade level has an individual concert throughout the year! For individual students, who excel chorally, she takes 4th and 5th graders to Onslow County Elementary All-County Chorus events each year. She also sends student auditions for the State Honors Chorus (in Winston-Salem), each year - and has taken student(s) in 2013, 2015-present.

She is the director of Dreamers Club, which has co-directed/produced the musicals Aristocats Kids, Willy Wonka Kids, Annie Jr. ('14, '23), Jungle Book Kids, Seussical Jr., Sleeping Beauty Kids, Peter Pan Jr, the 10th Annual Musical Showcase, and Lion King Kids. She has written many Bright Ideas grants and DonorsChoose grants to bring instruments like ukuleles, world music drums, xylophone or barred instruments to her music classroom! Every two years, Mrs. Williams also organizes a "School Drum Day" with visitors from Dancing Drum

For the 2020-2021 School Year, Mrs. Williams was presented with the Onslow County Arts Teacher of the Year award. She also obtained her Level 2 Orff Schulwerk certification in the summer of 2023.

Lindsay Williams was named the NCMEA Elementary Teacher of the Year in November 2022. She has also directed All-County chorus concerts in Pitt County and Pender County.

She is very excited about starting the 2023-2024 school year! She cannot wait to share her joy of music with all her students!

  • My goals:

    • To instill an interest and passion for music to all students, so they will continue their musical education into their higher levels of schooling.
    • To help students learn about all aspects of musical education, so that they will appreciate and respect music for the rest of their lives.
    • To allow students to experience music from all over the world, so they will have a better appreciation of the global environment they live in now.
