• WELCOME TO THE JACKSONVILLE COMMONS MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILY! 

    I am humbled to have begun my career with Onslow County Schools in 1998 on this campus as director of the SOS (Support Our Students) program. SOS focused on providing opportunities, exposure, and resources for at-risk middle school students -- and has remained the foundation of my career's work. Inspired by (the late) Principal Albert James, I transitioned into teaching business and technology classes at JCMS. Also, through his mentorship, I earned my MBA from Campbell University and administrative licensure through East Carolina University.

    Throughout my 26 years of service to the Onslow County School system, my sincere desire to positively impact the lives of the JCMS community has remained constant. 

    A few highlights of my career include:

    • Wells Fargo 2021 Southeast Region Principal of the Year

    Such significant accomplishments have only been possible because of my phenomenal group of colleagues who have so selflessly dedicated themselves to supporting the Commons community.  As we continue to work together, not only will we steadily improve academic, social, and soft skills for our students, but we can also ensure that each child . . . each staff member . . .  each volunteer. . . and each visitor enjoys productive and positive experiences every day at Jacksonville Commons Middle School.

    Stay Informed

    1)    Sign up for teachers'  and coaches' Remind groups (free app for your cell phone) to receive text messages containing quick updates, news and reminders about happenings. It also provides a quick way for you to send a message directly to the teacher. 

    2)    Visit the JCMS website often to stay abreast of highlights, announcements, and information about upcoming events.

    3)    Daily, review your child’s Student Planner, teacher webpages and Parent Portal to see grades, homework, projects, and assignments -- and to see notes from the teacher and comments regarding school performance.

    4)    Sign up for the PowerSchool Parent Portal. In the Portal, you can view up-to-date information about your child’s grades and attendance.

    5)   Please ensure your child arrives to school early enough to navigate the campus and be seated in class before the tardy bell rings at 7:40. The day begins with 1st core, instead of homeroom. Students who are not seated in class when the tardy bell rings are considered late -- and, more importantly, they are missing instruction. 

    Technology provides us with excellent tools to communicate and get up-to-date information. However, it doesn't replace good, old-fashioned, face-to-face contact. Let us know when you have a question, concern or idea. Call the school at 910/346-6888 to schedule a conference with your child's teacher or an appointment with administration.
