Work-Based Learning
The mission of the Career & Technical Education Work-Based Learning Program is to equip each student with the necessary knowledge for informed career decisions through a combination of academic rigor and work-based learning experiences.
The Work-Based Learning Programs provided by Onslow County Schools present academically eligible students with the chance to acquire diverse experience and knowledge. Students have the option to conduct interviews with professionals in specific fields or engage in internships during a semester or summer, earning class credits for the valuable hands-on experience.
Work-Based Learning activities are flexible and can take place either during or after school hours. The Career Development Coordinator (CDC) at each middle and high school is responsible for supervising the Work-Based Learning (WBL) program at their respective school. Students engaging in WBL activities are required to complete the registration process.
Students who are interested in participating in a Work-Based Learning Program may contact Angie Mason via email at angela.mason@onslow.k12.nc.us.
*Insurance Protection: The Onslow County Public School System extends coverage to all students involved in officially recognized work-based learning activities. Each student is insured under a liability policy with a coverage limit of $1,000,000.
