Educational Audiologists
Educational Audiologists are part of a multidisciplinary team that develops an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 plan for a student with hearing loss. The educational audiologist provides services and resources, as well as advocate for students with hearing deficits.
Educational Audiologists in the Onslow County School System are involved in:
- Facilitating communication access in the classroom
- Conducting screenings and evaluations to identify auditory deficits
- Monitoring student’s personal hearing instruments (hearing aids, cochlear implants)
- Recommending, fitting, and managing hearing assistance technology (FM/DM systems and classroom audio distribution systems)
