Department Functions

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Conduct thorough analyses of assessment results and interpret various school performance data to support instructional leaders in enhancing student achievement. Accurate and timely data reporting helps sustain efforts to improve student outcomes and ensure transparency across the district.
  • Compliance and Integrity: Ensure adherence to State Board of Education policies and North Carolina Department of Public Instruction guidelines throughout the testing process. A high-quality data collection process maintains the integrity of the data used to measure student improvement, which plays a critical role in accountability at the state and federal levels.
  • Research Facilitation: Oversee and approve research projects within the district to ensure alignment with educational goals while minimizing classroom disruption. The department supports evidence-based decision-making by providing access to relevant studies, trends, and best practices in education.
  • Continuous Improvement and Accountability: Support schools in implementing effective strategies and interventions based on performance data. By analyzing trends and identifying areas for growth, the department helps drive sustainable improvements in student achievement and instructional practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaboration among schools, district leaders, parents, and community members to promote a shared understanding of student performance data and accountability measures.
