Transportation Information Management System

The Onslow County Schools use a computer-based vehicle routing and scheduling system called T.I.M.S.   This system allows us to route our buses in a safe and efficient manner.  The T.I.M.S. staff works closely with our bus supervisors, bus drivers, and other school personnel to make the routes as accurate as possible.  Road maps of Onslow County are used to help determine the bus routes.  These maps are computerized and hazardous areas are designated.  This enables the T.I.M.S. staff to work with the routes on a daily basis and to update them as changes occur.  As the routes are updated, copies are printed and distributed to the drivers and to the school contacts for their use.  The T.I.M.S. system is administrated by a technical staff in Raleigh.   The staff at NCSU-ITRE works closely with our local T.I.M.S. staff to keep the system up-to-date.
