Printing Services FAQ's

The print shop achieves efficiency in two ways. First, jobs can be produced in less time, as the print shop uses equipment with a printing speed higher than copiers and printers found throughout the district's schools and offices. Second, jobs can be produced at a lower cost, as the equipment used in the shop produces printed pages for a lower cost of toner and equipment upkeep than imaging equipment throughout the rest of the District. These cost savings to the school district over the course of the school year are substantial and there is no charge to the school or department, the cost savings are retained by the school or department. This helps to fulfill our duties as responsible stewards of public funds.

Requesting a print job is easy. Each school should have an assigned Print Shop liaison.  Please contact that person and they can help submit your request.   

TAT is turnaround time of the print job. Average turnaround time is five days for simple print jobs. Most of the time TAT is determined by the season of the year. Summer is the busy time for the print shop getting ready for the new school year. It’s best to plan your request well ahead if the time it will be needed. We do accept last-minute requests, but prior proper planning of the request ensures efficiency.

The Print Shop typically uses double-sided printing.   In order to conserve resources, 98% of all print jobs are two-sided. If you a special order that requires copies to be one-sided, please contact the Print Shop.

Most printed jobs are delivered to the school or department via the district courier. Small Jobs will be delivered three times per week and large print jobs will be delivered once or twice per week. You also have the option to pick up your request at the print shop.

We accept PDF, Word, Publisher, Power Point, and various image formats. Printing Services has editing programs needed to ensure that your request is fulfilled as you request.

The Print Shop works in accordance copyright regulations set forth in federal and state law as well as Onslow County Board of Education Policy.  All incoming requests are reviewed to make certain all copyright rules are followed. Printing Services will not duplicate copyrighted material unless permission to reproduce is included with the work request or explicitly stated on material being duplicated.
