WOODLAND ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE ZONE REALIGNMENT

The new attendance zones for Morton Elementary School, Queens Creek Elementary School, Silverdale Elementary School, Swansboro Elementary School, and Woodland Elementary School were approved by the Onslow County Board of Education at the May 7, 2024, meeting.  The new attendance zones will go into effect starting with the 2025-2026 school year.  The approved map can be found at the link below. 

Woodland Elementary School is scheduled to open for students in August of 2025. Opening a new school means the creation of a new attendance zone to determine what students the school will serve. To create a new attendance zone for Woodland Elementary School, the attendance zones for four schools have been proposed for realignment. These schools are Morton Elementary School, Queens Creek Elementary School, Silverdale Elementary School, and Swansboro Elementary School. OCS recognizes that this is a challenging situation for those students and families affected by this change and we want to provide as much advance notice as possible. The proposed changes will not go into effect until the 2025-2026 school year. 

The information below will help our families understand the redistricting process and the proposed changes. OCS is also seeking feedback from our families regarding these changes. Four public feedback sessions have been scheduled for our families to come and share their thoughts on the attendance zone realignments affecting their schools. Those feedback sessions are as follows:

April 22 at Queens Creek Elementary | (WATCH HERE)

All sessions are scheduled to promptly begin at 6:00pm.
