Campus Student Portal Guide for Parents
Empowering Students to Take Ownership of Their Learning
The Campus Student Portal gives your child real-time access to their grades, attendance, assignments, and schedules—helping them stay organized, informed, and engaged in their education.
What is the Campus Student Portal?
The Campus Student Portal is a secure online platform where students can access their own educational information. Just like you have the Campus Parent Portal, your student has their own dedicated portal designed specifically for them. This tool helps students develop responsibility and self-advocacy skills by giving them direct access to track their academic progress.
View Grades & Assignments
Students can check their current grades in real-time and see upcoming assignments, helping them stay on top of their work and manage their time effectively.
Check Attendance
Your student can monitor their own attendance record, seeing when they were present, absent, or tardy for each class.
Access Class Schedule
Students can view their daily schedule, including room numbers and teacher names, making it easy to know where they need to be throughout the day.
Stay Connected
Receive important announcements and messages from teachers and school staff directly through the portal or mobile app.
How Students Access the Portal
Parent Partnership
While students have their own separate login credentials for the Campus Student Portal, we encourage you to have regular conversations with your child about what they're seeing in their portal. This helps create a partnership between you, your student, and their teachers.
đĨī¸ Web Browser Access
Students can access their portal from any computer or device with internet access:
- Go to the Onslow County Schools Student Portal website
- Enter their username and password (provided by their school)
- Complete the CAPTCHA verification
- Click "Log In" to access their information
Note: Students typically receive their login credentials from their teacher or school data manager during the first week of school.
đą Mobile App Access
For convenient on-the-go access, students can use the Campus Student mobile app:
- Download "Campus Student" (not Campus Parent) from the App Store or Google Play
- Search for "Onslow County Schools" and select from the list
- Enter the same username and password used for web access
- Enable "Stay Logged In" for push notifications (optional)
Tip: The mobile app provides the same features as the web version with the added benefit of notifications.

Setting Up Notifications
When using the Campus Student mobile app, students can receive push notifications to stay updated on their academic progress. This feature must be enabled by the school and configured by the student.
Enable "Stay Logged In"
When logging into the mobile app, check the "Stay Logged In" box before clicking "Log In."
Access Settings
After logging in, tap the user menu in the top right corner and select "Settings."
Configure Notification Settings
Select "Notification Settings" and choose which types of notifications to receive (attendance, grades, assignments).
Set Thresholds
Optionally set thresholds (e.g., only notify if assignment score is below 70%) and save your preferences.
Helping Your Student Use the Portal Effectively
Open Communication
Encourage your student to check their portal regularly and talk with you about what they see. Ask questions like "What assignments do you have coming up?" or "How are your grades looking this week?"
Goal Setting
Help your student use the portal to set academic goals and track their progress toward those goals throughout the grading period.
Regular Check-Ins
Establish a routine for your student to review their portal—perhaps once a week or every few days—to stay aware of their academic standing.
Teacher Communication
Remind your student that the portal is a tool to help them, but they should also communicate directly with teachers when they have questions or concerns.
Important Information for Parents
Separate Login Credentials
Your Campus Parent Portal login is different from your student's Campus Student Portal login. Each student has their own unique username and password that should not be shared with others.
Portal Availability
The school controls which areas of the portal are available to students. It's common for certain features to be turned off during:
- Summer break and other school holidays
- Grading periods when teachers are finalizing grades
- Times when maintenance or updates are being performed
Privacy and Security
Students should only access their own portal information. The portal complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), meaning student data is protected and only visible to the student and their authorized parents or legal guardians.
Password Safety
Remind your student to keep their login credentials secure and not share them with friends. If they forget their password, they should contact their teacher or school data manager for a reset.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Student Doesn't Have Login Credentials
If your student hasn't received their username and password:
- Contact their teacher or homeroom teacher
- Reach out to the school's data manager
- Call the school's main office for assistance
Can't Log In
If your student is having trouble logging in:
- Verify the username and password are correct (they're case-sensitive)
- Make sure they're using "Campus Student" (not Campus Parent)
- Clear browser cache and cookies, then try again
- Try a different browser or device
Information Seems Incorrect
If grades or attendance appear incorrect:
- Check that the correct grading period is selected
- Wait a day—updates may take time to appear
- Have your student speak with their teacher
- Contact the school if the issue persists
Mobile App Not Working
For mobile app issues:
- Make sure it's the "Campus Student" app, not "Campus Parent"
- Update the app to the latest version
- Restart the device and try again
- Use the same credentials as the web portal
