Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Michael Picozzi
Hello thank you for visiting my teacher page! My name is Michael Picozzi and I am a Participate teacher from England. 2018 - 2019 will be my 4th year teaching at Clyde Erwin. I am eagerly anticipating teaching third grade again this year too.
I decided to become a teacher after I coached a boys soccer team in Ghana. It was such a rewarding and humbling experience to work with such enthusiastic children that were desperate to learn and become better players. During my time in Ghana, I was presented with an opportunity to try teaching a class of children. Unbeknown to me I was soon face to face with a class of at least 80 students and armed with a solitary piece of chalk and a blackboard, I taught my first ever lesson. After this unforgettable experience I returned to England and enrolled myself at Chichester University and continued my teaching journey.
It was at Chichester University where I applied to take part in a teaching exchange program with Penn State for a year. I was fortunate to be chosen to represent my University and had a brilliant year learning and teaching in American schools. It was remarkable to experience American schools and life in general and it made me determined to return to teach in America one day.
When I returned from Pennsylvania, I finished my final year at Chichester and was offered a job at the school where I completed my student teaching. It was called Clapham and Patching where I spent two truly phenomenal and very happy years. The school had about 50 children in total and I taught a mixed class of years 3 - 6. I particularly enjoyed teaching the wide age range in my class. One of my main passions was teaching PE and math and I led a running club, table tennis team and also a soccer team after school.
I look forward to teaching a new group of children again this year!
