Hello Everyone and welcome to my page!

I am thrilled and proud to be a Parkwood Panda!

A little about my journey…

I am a University of Tennessee (Go Vols!) trained microbiologist specializing in immunology and have worked at various biotechnology companies in New England and Research Triangle Park.  I have worked in labs and researched everything from cancer to transplants to stem cells. I spent over 10 years working in biotechnology.

I received my true calling, which was to become a teacher, after I had my son. I left my career as a microbiologist and followed my passion by earning teaching licensure in the areas of Elementary General Education and EC General Education K-12. I started my tenure as a special education teacher in Chatham County, North Carolina.

In April 2021, my husband, a Methodist pastor, received an assignment to relocate to Jacksonville.  So, here we are!  I was offered (and gladly accepted!) a position with the Parkwood Elementary EC department, originally as the 3-5 General Education Separate Setting teacher.

I currently hold the position as EC Lead Teacher at Parkwood Elementary. I am also the school's Resource Teacher for grades 3 through 5.

I am a kid at heart. I am a huge science nerd. I am a breast cancer survivor.  I am mom to the coolest teenager ever. I am the proud owner of a stubborn bulldog named Duke.

I have been motivating, guiding, and teaching children for over 12 years, and have enjoyed every minute. The relationships I share with my students are of the utmost importance to me. I look forward to working with your children and hope to help them have a great primary school experience full of learning, laughter, and love.
