Austin Huffman

I'm a Richlands native and graduated from RHS in 2010. I then attended Appalachian State University and earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English in 2014. Although I have always wanted to be a teacher, my life journey didn't lead me to the classroom right away. While I was in college, I found success working in retail and followed that path to Orlando, Florida. I spent three years as a retail Cast Member at Walt Disney World working in all four theme parks and various resorts as a sales associate, assistant manager, and eventually as a member of the Operations and Training Team. It was during my time with the Training Team that my passion for teaching was reignited. 

I began teaching in Orlando in 2018 and relocated back to Onslow County in the summer of 2020. Over the last five years, I have taught 7th grade, all levels of high school English, the AVID 9 elective, and ACT Prep. After thirteen years away, I am thrilled to return to my roots at RHS to continue doing what I love in the community that I love. 

When I am not in the classroom you will likely find me home enjoying my vast collection of music, on my patio amongst the plants, or somewhere near the beach or lake. I also love travelling, concerts, and spending time with my family.
