All about Ms. Domke
Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Marti Domke
I am a 1989 graduate of UNC-Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health & Physical Education with K-12 teaching certification. Go Seahawks!
My first teaching job was in 1990 aboard Camp Lejeune, NC. I taught PE to grades K-5 at Berkeley Elementary School for 2 years before moving to Massachusetts. Once in Massachusettes, I worked as a health room assistant for East Longmeadow Public Schools and traveled to 3 different schools helping students who came to the nurse's office. In January 1994 a health & PE position became available at St. Mary's Catholic School in Longmeadow and I taught there until my second son was born. For the next 10 years, I had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom. During that time, I had another child and when he started kindergarten at Carolina Forest, I began substitute teaching. In the fall of 2005, a PE position at Northwoods Elementary became available and I taught there until 2011. At that time, my family relocated to Raleigh but returned to Jacksonville six months later. I worked as an instructional assistant at Carolina Forest International Elementary from 2012-2014. I came to Dixon Elementary in the fall of 2014 and I have enjoyed working with and being a part of the DES Bulldog staff and family.
I am originally from Alexandria Virginia but have spent most of my life in coastal North Carolina. I am the mother of 3 sons (Matt 33, Ben 25, an Aaron 20). My oldest son, Matt, is self-employed. My middle son, Ben, is a 2017 graduate of ECU, and is now working on his master's degree in Hispanic Linguistics at NCSU! My son, Aaron, is a junior at UNCW (Go Seahawks!) and plans to major in criminology or history.
I have three fur-babies: one cat (Mollie) and two dogs (Pudge & Lacey). I enjoy spending time at the beach, reading, walking, biking, baking, and gardening. I love going to concerts, musicals, sporting events, and outlet malls! My favorite color is orange. My favorite holiday season is Christmas. I also love spending time with my friends, family, and pets!
I hope you all know how much I am going to miss seeing you in PE 2 over the next couple of weeks BUT I will be posting activities and information during this time so you all can stay active and healthy! Parents: this is all optional; don't stress out and feel obiligated to do these activities! My activites will be under CLASS RESOURCES.
Students, I want to first remind everyone to WASH YOUR HANDS for 20 seconds (sing Happy Birthday or the ABC's) with soap and water. Cover your cough or sneeze. Give elbow bumps instead of hugs, kisses, and hand shakes.
Remember that March is National Nutrition Month so try to eat a variety of healthy foods. As always, drink plenty of water and get a good nights rest.
If you ever have any questions, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I will begin checking my email/web page tomorrow (March 18) and providing you with fun PE activites to do at home!
Until then, keep washing those hands, Bulldogs!!
Your PE 2 teacher,
