Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Nelvin Licona
I am Nelvin Licona, a Honduran Fulbrighter who recently graduated from Old Dominion University where I obtained an MA in Applied Linguistics. I am also a language educator and a project manager. As an educator, I keep on believing that education is the glorious path to creating opportunities for personal and professional growth. As Malcolm X stated, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” It follows, then, that an educator's duty goes beyond just conveying knowledge.
Let us Know a Bit About My Teaching Philosophy
As part of my teaching philosophy, I always challenge myself to find the easiest ways of mastering students’ fluency and accuracy in L2 learning. Also, as L2 teacher, I am mainly focused on creating suitable teaching and learning classroom environments for students to develop and enhance their language skills to the fullest. Based on my teaching experience, I think that to have successful L2 classrooms, we as teachers need to create various learning opportunities that best address students’ lacks, wants, and needs. I also think that student-centered activities are important to give students opportunities to become more communicative competent as well as to become critical thinkers and problem solvers in today’s global marketplace.
