Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Teresa Pauli
Greetings Vikings! I began my teaching career as a bilingual and dual immersion Spanish teacher in 1997 for both Long Beach Unified and Los Angeles Unified School Districts. I then went on to teach high school French for 14 years for LAUSD as well, in the city of Wilmington, California. I moved to North Carolina from California in 2018 and have been teaching special education in elementary schools as well as online as a resource and general separate teacher for the past 3 years. I am so happy to have been given the opportunity to teach high school again at White Oak High School as a French and Spanish teacher. I have 24 years of teaching experience working with children of all ages. Furthermore, having been an EC teacher for the past 3 years has really helped me to become more aware and empathetic of the needs of children with learning disabilities. I am a mother of two grown men and a grandmother of a beautiful 11-year-old granddaughter. Therefore, I have the patience to reach all children regardless of their learning styles.
Having lived in California since I was a toddler, I consider myself a native Californian. I have an Associates Degree in Languages from Orange Coast College as well as a Bachelor's Degree in French from California State University Long Beach. I lived in Paris from 1986-1987 and studied at the Alliance Francaise to fully immerse myself in the language. I am fluent in French, Spanish, and conversational Italian, and I welcome speaking in these languages when I meet someone who is from a country that speaks these languages.
I love working out at the gym and try to get there daily before I begin working at school. I have been a longboarder surfing in the west coast for a few years and have tried some of the local beaches. I love to ski and used to go to Bear Mountain all of the time. I have only skied at Sugar Mountain but would like to try other ski resorts nearby. I love bumper stickers and have many on my car from different places I have traveled around the world. I am considered a foodie and love sushi, which is my favorite food, and my hope is to one day visit Japan. My favorite colors are pink and purple.
