Mrs. Rojas
Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag! These are just a few of the languages that I speak, some better than others. I was born in England and moved to America when I was nine years old, hence the American accent. I still have family in England and my sister lives in Switzerland, so needless to say that I travel quite a bit. I will say if you ever have the chance, definitely go to Geneva! I have lived in Pender County most of my life and currently I live in Burgaw, which is known for its Blueberry Festival, so we are sort of a big deal. I am married to a former Marine and have two boys of my own. I find it funny when the first graders are learning about scientists and I tell them that my son is a scientist and they say that they did not know that scientists were real. If you stop by my classroom this year, then you will see my pride and joy, no not my boys, well not my children, but my four-legged children. My class last year got to hear all about my dogs, so I made them my theme this year. Brutus, Maximus, and Titus are three very wild and crazy Weimaraners, all under 3. They are beautiful, to say the least, and two are my husband's service dogs, so when you see them out they act differently when they are working than they do in the house. This is my second year of teaching and my second year at Summersill and I have enjoyed every minute in my classroom. Last year I said that I was going to make connections with every one of my students and I believe I did that, and with doing that I made great connections with their parents too, and this is what I will continue to do each year. I am a firm believer that if the students feel loved, then they want to do their best. I start from day one building relationships so that we can work together to build a community that is like a family and we take care of one another. I teach from the heart and we have fun and learning can be fun and that is what I strive to do. We do not all learn from a book and I want to help everyone find what works best for them. Love first and learning comes naturally is my motto. If you have the chance to talk to my prior students I hope they say that they had fun and learned some things as that is what I want them to take away.
