Mrs. Carney

My name is Lindsey Carney and I was fortunate enough to relocate to the Swansboro area into my forever home in January of 2022. For the past 10 years I lived in Washington State where I worked as a group counselor at a psychiatric hospital and a fitness center general manager. I always wanted to get back into teaching but knew Washington was not for me or my family so I decided not to get cerifited to teach there thinking it was only going to be temporary. My husband was in the Army and after he retired we settled and decided North Carolina was the perfect place for us; never really being here before. You see we were both from New Jersey. But we absolutely love it here and were so happy with our choice to relocate here.

About me:

I have three children: Maybelline, Stella, and Corbin.

I attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania for both my undergrad and graduate degrees.

I was a cross country and track athlete and was very successful in college. I attended four NCAA national championships.

My first year teaching in Pennsylvania, I coached cross country and track. I trained an athlete who was a freshman at the time and she raced so well she was able to improve enough to compete in states. That was our school's first cross country athlete to ever make it there. The funny thing is I moved to Washington after that year and a few years later I looked at the Lock Haven University roster (my college) and I see her name. Well while she was there she stole almost all my collegial records; I had about 10. It is always a bitter sweet moment but I love that I inspired her so much that one year that she decided to continue running, attended my college, and competed in my same events in track.

My hope as a teacher is to help my students become their very best self. I hope there is something I can teach you that you can take with you to help you in your future.
