Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Kimberly Ward
Welcome to our Second Grade Family! I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this year. This is my sixth year teaching at Jacksonville Commons Elementary School, and my eleventh year teaching. I have taught second, third, and fourth grade in the previous years. I grew up in Florida, and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in elementary education. I moved to North Carolina after I married my husband who got out of the Marine Corps after serving for eight years. He continues to work on base as a contractor. We also have a daughter who turned three this November. I love my job, and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside such wonderful children day in and day out. Each of my students holds a special place in my heart. I believe a classroom should be a safe haven for students in which their creativity and individuality is celebrated. I strive to make my students feel like they are part of a family in which we build upon each other’s differences and engage in meaningful learning. I expect my students to come to school each day prepared and equipped with a positive attitude!
