Welcome to Foods and Nutrition 1

Hello everyone - I am originally from Santa Cruz, CA, but have also lived in Canada and England. I love to travel and have enjoyed all of the many places I have had the good fortune to live and visit. My husband and I moved to coastal NC over a decade ago. We have two daughters that live in other parts of North Carolina and we are "servants" to two cats - Pepper and Peanut.

I am a graduate of ECU, so I guess it is only fitting that I continue to be a Pirate at SBHS - Arr! While I haven't always been in the field of education, I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I have been a director of preschool, taught in both elementary and middle school grades, as well as in high school. Although I am licensed to teach in several content areas, I have a special love for science, and now, especially food science! I have always loved to cook and enjoy trying a variety of cuisines. We all love to eat and to eat good food, so my hope is that our classroom kitchens become a place where meals and memories are made!    ~ Kitchens bring family and friends together.
