Mrs. Shasta Baker
I was born and raised in Northern California in the beautiful Pacific North West among the Mountains, Ocean and Redwood trees. Growing up here was a dream and allowed me to enjoy so many outdoor activities, like hiking, riding dirt bikes, fishing, and horseback riding. Now, I live here in Jacksonville with my husband Todd, our 3 children and our 2 puppies, Jaxxy and Magnolia. As a family, we love to spend time outside, swimming, fishing, going on walks and playing at the park.
I attended Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA where I received my Bachelor of Science in Education as well as my California Teaching Credentials for General Education K-6 and Special Education - Mild/Moderate. I then attended Concordia University in Portland, OR where I received my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership: Training & Curriculum. After moving to North Carolina, I received my Teaching License for General Education and Special Education and am currently enrolled at UNC to add an additional licensure of AIG (Academically or Intelectually Gifted) to my credentials.
This is my 6th year teaching at Parkwood and my 11th year of teaching. I love Parkwood and am so blessed to be part of this school. I welcome and value parent involvement throughout the year, so please feel free to always contact me. As a teacher and a mother, I know how valuable time is.
