Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Tori Carpenter
I was born in Florence, SC, but we soon moved to Raleigh, NC. I lived there until I left for college, UNCW, go Seahawks! After college, I kept moving back and forth from the ocean life to the city life, but in the end my heart belongs to the sea! I have the cutest most wonderful dog named Chloe. She is a wonderful puppy and makes my daily life very interesting.
I am a proud graduate of The University of North Carolina at Wilmington from the Watson College of Education. I graduated in 2000 with a bachelors in elementary education and a concentration in mathematics. Since then, I have taken classes at the College of Charleston in technology and worked with Meredith College Professors on increasing math education. I also earned my National Boards Certification in Middle Childhood Generalist.
I began teaching near Wilmington at Bolivia Elementary. I moved on to where I grew up, Raleigh, NC, and taught at Leesville Road Elementary, 3rd grade, for 4 years. I decided to move back to the coast and to a new state, SC. I taught in Charleston, SC at a magnet school, St. Andrews School of Math and Science. I taught there for 5 years in both 3rd and 4th grade. I then decided to come back home again to where I grew up, Raleigh, and taught 3rd grade for two years. But, the sea was calling me back, and my family had all moved away from Raleigh. So, I decided to move again which brought me here to Queens Creek Elementary. At QCE, I have taught 3 years of fourth grade math and science, 3 years teaching 5th grade science, and spent 5 years coaching Science Olympiad. I have really enjoyed teaching 5th grade science these past years. I was QCE 2015-2016 STEM Teacher of the Year and QCE's 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year. I love Queens Creek!
