Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Alysia Baysden
East Carolina University Graduate 1992
B.A in Education and Reading
The 2020-2021 school year begins my 29th year of teaching. I began teaching at Clyde Erwin Elementary school where I worked for 5 years. I then moved to Richlands Elementary School and worked there until Richlands Primary School opened in 2001. I am a National Board Certified Teacher.
I am a native of Richlands. I attended Richlands Elementary School, Trexler Middle School, and Richlands High School. I never thought that I would love teaching in my hometown so much, but I must say what a joy it is. How fascinating to meet the children and grandchildren of my old classmates as well as those of people that have chosen our wonderful town as their home.
I have been married to another Richlands native and retired PE teacher and coach, Randy Baysden, for 32 years now. We have two fabulous children and a wonderful son-in-law. Our daughter, Haley, is an RN an her husband Alex, is a firefighter. Our son Logan has recently graduated from ECU and has a job as a mechanical engineer. I am an avid reader and I strive daily to pass that love on to my students.
Professional Mission Statement:
To lead my students with love by building relationships which support their learning and well-being.
