A Little About Me
I grew up in a military family as both of my parents served in the Navy. I was born in Florida but consider North Carolina home since most of my life has been spent here. I lived in the mountains of North Carolina while attending Western Carolina University and absolutely loved it. However, the beach has grown on me quite a bit since moving here in August 2017. I have enjoyed being a beach creature!
I love being with friends and family and traveling to new places. I've traveled through most of the United States and visited many great places with my family over the years. One summer we took an entire month and traveled by car from the east coast of North Carolina to the west coast of California and back again! We visited lots relatives and saw so many amazing places along the way. Out of all the places we visited, the Grand Canyon was my absolute favorite.
I was inspired to become an elementary teacher because of the wonderful educators I had when I was in school. They helped me develop a love for reading and learning, and now I strive to do the same with my students.
While at WCU, I earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education (K-6) as well as a Reading Certification (K-12). I began teaching in August 2010 with Pitt County Schools. During my 7 years there, I had the privilege of teaching all subjects to students in grades 3-6. I moved to Onslow County in August 2017 and have been a part of the Sand Ridge family for 5 years now!
For the 2021-2022 school year, I will be teaching English Language Arts for all 5th graders.
