Degrees and Certifications:
"Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny."-Stephen Covey
I am originally from the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky, but have lived in Onslow County for the past 17 years. I am married with a son who is heading to WCU in the fall (Go Catamounts!) and a daughter in 8th grade. I am also blessed with three grown step-children who live in Kentucky. In my free time, I love being at home with my family and spending time in the great outdoors.
I began the journey to becoming a teacher in Kentucky in 1999. However, I soon learned that I wanted to focus on my family first before beginning my professional life as a teacher. After moving to North Carolina, I finished my AA degree at Coastal Carolina Community College before transferring to UNCW. I graduated magna cum laude with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education in December 2015. The lesson I hope to impart from this is that even if things don't go as originally planned, it is never too late to become the leader you want to be. You just have to make a plan and stick to it. Persistence and determination pay off!
Silverdale has been my full-time teaching home for the past 6 1/2 years. And what a happy home it is!
This year we will have an intern from ECU joining us! She will be in the classroom part-time during the first semester and full-time doing her student teaching the second. Please check out her bio for more information.
