Dr. Lisa I. Peele is currently serving in her third year as the Director of Cultural Arts and Special Projects in the Onslow Country School District where she supervises approximately 95 teachers in K-12 content areas comprised of music, visual arts, and dance. In 2017-2018, Dr. Peele was recognized by the North Carolina Art Education Association as the North Carolina Arts Education ArtS Administator of the Year. She maintains partnerships with local performing arts organizations and companies, along with other community organizations. She has a passion for education and is truly a lifelong learner. Dr. Peele's educational background includes a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of School Administration degree from East Carolina University. She received her Doctor of Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, focusing on program evaluation.
She was born in eastern North Carolina and began her career in Pamlico County Schools, serving as an elementary and middle school music and choral teacher. She also served Pamlico County High School as an assistant principal. "It has truly been an honor to have served the Onslow County School System for the past fifteen years as an assistant principal, principal, Director of Cultural Initiatives, and the Director of Cultural Arts and Special Projects." She believes that positive leadership truly matters and is valuable in all aspects of life. Her leadership values of intergrity, trust, and perservenece continue to guide her each and every day.
