Bio:
I am what you would call a local from the Jacksonville area. Growing up, I lived in the Midway Park area until I was 12. After my 5th grade year at Swansboro Elementary, my family moved to Beulaville, NC. I finished my grade school education at Beulaville Middle School and East Duplin High. Currently, I live in Jacksonville with my husband, our infant daughter, Josephine, and our Boston Terrier named Daisy Grace. During my free time I like to read, paint, shop for shoes and clothes, surf the internet and hang out with friends and family. I enjoy traveling to different locations, like the Biltmore Estates, Myrtle Beach, and Charlotte.

Education:
I graduated high school from East Duplin in May 2002. That fall, I attended Coastal Carolina Community College and graduated with my Associates in Arts in the summer of 2004. I enrolled at UNC-Wilmington and the Watson School of Education during the spring of 2010. In May 2011, I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a concentration in Behavioral Studies and obtained my K-6 teaching license in the state of North Carolina. In 2017, I received my Partnership Teacher Certification from UNC-Wilmington. This certificate permits me to advise college students who are interning to become educators. During the summer of 2020, I completed the process to become a teacher mentor. I recently obtained my National Board Certification focusing on Early Childhood, Ages 3-8.
Experience:
This school year is my eleventh year teaching Kindergarten, as well as my eleventh year as a standalone elementary school teacher. With that said, I am no stranger to the Silverdale community. During the spring of 2011, I had the honor to join the staff and conduct my internship by teaching 2nd grade. In February 2012, I was hired as a part of the Silverdale staff to work alongside Mrs. Gregware to further educate her class and prepare them for the 5th grade. During the 2014-15 school year and 2016-17 school year, I was selected as the Global Teacher of the Year (at the school level). In June 2021, I was nominated as Silverdale's Teacher of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year. In the fall of 2021, I was chosen as one of the top 10 teachers in the Onslow County School System.
