• Mrs. Williams is from Red Hook, New York, but moved to North Carolina in 2005. She is happily married, has three children (Emma, Ryan & Noah), and a few pets. She loves North Carolina and will never move back to NY (too much snow!) Mrs. Williams has a huge passion for music, and she loves teaching her students.

  • Mrs. Williams holds a Masters in Music Education. She is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam, The Crane School of Music for undergraduate studies in Music Education, as well as Boston University for her Masters. While voice is her primary instrument, she is also a flute player and LOVES playing her ukulele!

In November 2016, Mrs. Williams was elected as a "Member at Large" for the Elementary Music Educators section, for the North Carolina Music Educators Association.

  • This is Mrs. Williams' 10th year at Swansboro Elementary!

Mrs. Williams began her teaching career teaching 6-8 chorus, drama, piano and world music appreciation at New Bridge Middle school from 2006 to 2011.

In August 2011, Mrs. Williams started teaching at Swansboro Elementary. She teaches the fundementals of musical education to her K-2 students, and then expands to instrumental studies for her 3-5 students. Students become fluent in sight-reading music, as well as composition. Students also develop a global understanding of the music in the world. Each grade level has an individual concert throughout the year! For individual students, who excel chorally, she takes 4th and 5th graders to Onslow County Elementary All-County Chorus each year. She also sends student auditions for the State Honors Chorus (in Winston-Salem), each year - and has taken student(s) in 2013, 2015-present.

She has co-directed/produced the musicals Aristocats Kids, Willy Wonka Kids, Annie Jr., Jungle Book Kids, Seussical Jr., Sleeping Beauty Kids, Peter Pan Jr, and 10th Annual Musical Showcase. She has won two Bright Ideas grants, bringing the world of African Drumming to Swansboro, and ukuleles to the 5th graders, and many DonorsChoose grants, to bring more ukuleles and drums to our music classroom! In 2015, 2017, and 2019 Mrs. Williams also organized a "School Drum Day" with vistors from Dancing Drum. It was an eventful day!

She is very excited to start the 2020-2021 school year! She cannot wait to share her joy of music with all her students!

  • My goals:

    • To instill an interest and passion for music to all students, so they will continue their musical education into their higher levels of schooling.
    • To help students learn about all aspects of musical education, so that they will appreciate and respect music for the rest of their lives.
    • To allow students to experience music from all over the world, so they will have a better appreciation of the global environment they live in now.
